All employees of TD Bank Financial Group are familiar with the procedures that must be taken to safeguard customer information. And to us, protecting the confidentiality of your information is more than a procedure – it’s part of our job. It is specified in our employment agreements and regularly confirmed in writing.

    We have thorough, up-to-date security standards to protect our systems and your information against unauthorized access. Constant monitoring maintains the quality of our systems, proactively identifies unusual customer account activity and helps provide you with around-the-clock peace of mind.

    We’ve made a commitment to keeping your confidential information safe using secure firewalls and cookies to prevent unauthorized access to our internal systems.

  1. Two-Step Verification
    For your protection, we use Two-Step Verification. We’ll send you a one-time security code when we need to confirm who you are for online or mobile banking, or – if you choose - every time you login.

  2. WebBroker trading password
    WebBroker provides an optional added level of security – a trading password – to prevent unauthorized trades from being placed in the event your Connect ID and password have been compromised.

Frequently asked questions

Don’t open emails you didn’t ask for, and don’t open email attachments from strangers.

Be cautious about clicking links on unknown websites.

Regularly update the software on your computer, phone and other devices.

Keep your passwords safe:

  • Never share your passwords or PIN with anyone.
  • Choose different passwords for different devices.
  • Don’t use your passwords on someone else’s device.
  • Choose a “strong” password that uses a random combination of numbers or letters. Don’t use names or birthdays or a row of numbers or letters that are too easy to guess like “12345” or “ABCDEF”.

Use Two-Step Verification whenever possible. When you turn on this feature, we'll confirm it’s you by sending a text message to your phone.

Never reply to suspicious emails or open attachments from strangers: delete them.

Fraudsters may try to scam you by pretending to be your bank. Remember, TD Bank will never ask you to:

  • Give personal or account information (like bank account numbers or passwords) by phone.
  • Let us remotely access your computer. 
  • Transfer money or “keep a secret” as part of an investigation.
  • Buy gift cards.

The safest way to pay is by using your TD Credit Card or TD Access Card, and only on a secure website. 

Here’s what to keep in mind when making online purchases:

  • If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Shop with well-known, familiar retailers. When shopping with companies or stores you don’t know, research them before you buy.
  • Don’t make purchases on a pop-up page: go directly to the retailer’s secure website.

In the unlikely event that money was taken out of your TD account because of a TD online or mobile transaction that you didn’t make, TD will investigate the transaction, as long as you’ve met your security responsibilities.

TD Fraud Prevention Tools can lessen the risk of fraud by giving your TD accounts additional layers of security:

Two-Step Verification: When you enable this feature, we’ll confirm it’s you logging in to your accounts by sending a text message to your phone.

Biometric ID: Set up the TD app on your phone to recognize you by your face, fingerprint or eye scan, so you won’t have to put in a password.

TD Fraud Alerts: Receive instant push notifications, emails and text messages alerting you if we see suspicious activity on your TD Credit Cards or TD Access Cards.

Autodeposit: Money you receive with Interac e-Transfer® can be securely deposited into your account.
