How the TD Cash Secured Credit Card works

  • Apply online
If qualified, you'll receive conditional approval
  • Make a security deposit
Once conditionally approved you'll open a TD Simple Savings account and make a deposit to secure your credit line
  • Set your credit limit
Your security deposit is your credit limit. That means you can decide the amount that's best for you—from $300–$5,000, subject to credit approval
  • Graduate to an unsecured card
If you use and maintain the card and keep it in good standing, you may be eligible to graduate to an unsecured TD Bank Credit Card. Please keep in mind, not all accounts qualify for graduation. A decision to graduate is based on responsible credit management across all of your credit cards and loans, including TD and others

TD Bank reports your account to the three major credit bureaus which can help you build or rebuild your credit if you use your credit card responsibly. Responsible use includes but is not limited to paying at least the minimum payment on time. Late payments and other derogatory activity may negatively impact your ability to build or rebuild your credit.

2Spend Categories:

Within 30 days of account opening, you will have a one-time opportunity to change the Spend Category that was initially assigned to the 3% and 2% Reward Tiers at account opening. This change will apply during the first calendar quarter following account opening. After the first 30 days, every quarter you may choose your 3% and 2% Spend Categories, and earn 1% on all other purchases. At time of card opening the card Spend Categories will default to 3% Cash Back on Dining, and 2% at Grocery Stores.  Each quarter, you can choose to change your Spend Categories. Each Spend Category represents Purchases that are grouped by the type of goods and services sold by the merchant, based on that merchant’s Spend Category Code (“MCC”). Merchants who accept Visa credit cards are assigned an MCC, which is determined by the merchant or its processor in accordance with Visa procedures and is based on the kinds of products and services they primarily sell. We do not determine which MCC a merchant uses. For complete details, please read important terms and conditions.
