What are TD Threshold Alerts?

Keep on top of your TD accounts with alerts that notify you if your bank account falls below the alert threshold or you’re approaching your credit limit. You can also be alerted if you’re approaching your available overdraft limit. Customize your alerts to meet your needs and help avoid additional account fees.

How do they work

TD Threshold Alerts help you manage your accounts. When your account balance is low or you’re approaching your credit limit, you’ll be alerted by text, email or both, depending on your settings. You can customize your alerts or opt out any time.

  • TD Threshold Alerts are sent automatically by text, or by email if we don’t have your Canadian mobile phone number. Please make sure your contact details are up to date.
  • To get you started, an alert will be sent if your deposit account falls below $100, or if you only have $100 left on your credit limit.
  • Customize your settings any time through EasyWeb® Online banking or the TD app, including how you’d like to receive alerts (text and/or email) and the threshold balance that will cause an alert to be sent to you.
 

Frequently Asked Questions

TD Threshold Alerts are available for the following accounts:

  • Personal deposit accounts (chequing, savings and U.S. dollar)
  • Personal chequing accounts with Overdraft Protection service
  • Personal credit cards (not including Authorized Users)
  • Personal lines of credit

Business accounts don’t receive TD Threshold Alerts.


We do not charge for sending TD Threshold Alerts, but standard wireless carrier message and data rates may apply. Please check your wireless carrier plan for your rate information.

You can opt out of these alerts at any time.


You can opt out of receiving TD Threshold Alerts any time. Simply:

  • Go to EasyWeb: Under Profile & Settings, select TD Alerts and Notifications, then select Manage
  • Or use the TD app: Under Profile & Settings, select Notifications, then select Threshold Alerts
  • Or reply STOP to a text alert or select “Opt out” at the bottom of an email alert. This will only stop alerts for that specific account.
     

To change your TD Threshold Alert settings, simply:

  • Go to EasyWeb: Select Profile & Settings, then TD Alerts and Notifications, then Manage
  • Or use the TD app:  Under Profile & Settings, select Notifications, then select Threshold Alerts

You can change the mobile number and email address through EasyWeb or the TD app at any time:

  • EasyWeb: Select Profile & Settings from the left navigation, then My Profile and then Edit Phone to update your mobile number, or Edit Email to update your email address
  • TD app: Select Settings from the main menu, then select Edit Profile to update your mobile number or email address

You can also visit a TD branch or call EasyLine® telephone banking.


Yes, if you’re a Primary Cardholder who lives in Quebec, you could receive both a TD Threshold Alert and a TD Credit Card Overlimit Notification for the same transaction. Visit the TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications tab for more information on this type of alert.


TD Threshold Alerts will be sent using specific short codes for text alerts, and specific email addresses for email alerts.


A short code is a special 5-digit phone number for sending and receiving text messages.  A short code must be registered with the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA). The TD Threshold Alert text messages we send you will be from one of the following short codes, depending on the product(s) you have with us:

What are TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications?

TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications will be sent to you when you exceed your credit limit on your TD credit card. These alerts will only be sent to Primary Cardholders who are Quebec residents.

How TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications work

We'll send these alerts electronically by text, email or both depending on your notification settings. Until you change your notification settings, we’ll send you these alerts by text message if we have your Canadian mobile number, otherwise we’ll notify you by email if we have your email address.

If we don’t have your valid Canadian mobile number or email address, or you have opted out of electronic notifications for these alerts, we will send them by letter mail to the mailing address we have on file. You can give us your Canadian mobile number or email at any time for us to start sending you alerts electronically.

At the time we send you an alert, using your card may be limited until your balance has been reduced below your credit limit.

Opt out of electronic TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications at any time

If you choose to opt out of electronic TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications for any one or all of your credit card accounts we will send these notifications to you by letter mail instead.

  • Log in to EasyWeb
  • Go to your Profile & Settings and select TD Alerts and Notifications
  • Select the Manage tab where you can review your alert notification settings and unselect both text and email message options for TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications

How to identify TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications

  • Email alerts will be sent from TDCCOLAS@td.com
  • Text message alerts will be sent from short code 83273. A short code is a special phone number used to send and receive text messages. TD uses 5 digit short codes when sending text messages
  • This short code and email address are only used for TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications and not for any other types of alerts (e.g. TD Threshold Alerts, TD Fraud Alerts)

Questions You May Have

We send TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications to TD Primary Cardholders who are Quebec residents. We won't send these alerts to Authorized Users.


TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications are not encrypted or password protected, and never include a link to EasyWeb. We include a minimal amount of personal and account information in these alerts.

  • Alerts sent by text message will only display the last 2 digits of your credit card account number (e.g. XX34)
  • Alerts sent by email will only display your name (first, middle and last) and the last 4 digits of your credit card account number (e.g. 1234)
  • These alerts are not the same as alerts we may send you for stocks, ETFs and mutual funds, and TD Threshold Alerts


For security reasons, certain information including account number has been masked. TD will not ask you to provide personal information or login information, such as username, passwords, PINs, security questions and answers, or account numbers, through unsolicited texts or emails. TD will not share sensitive data through regular texts or emails nor will TD request this type of information be sent from you through regular texts or email. If you suspect an email to be fraudulent, please forward a copy to us at phishing@td.com and then delete the email.   • Bal – balance
  • Msg – message
  • Std – standard
  • Txt – text
  • Ur – your

  • A short code is a special, abbreviated phone number used for two-way messaging, often used to send and receive text messages
  • TD uses 5 digit short codes when sending text messages. TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications will be sent from short code 83273

Yes, we are required to send you a TD Credit Card Overlimit Notification for your Personal TD Credit Card when the account balance exceeds your credit limit.

If we don't have your electronic contact information or if you opt out of electronic alerts, we won't send you these alerts electronically and instead we'll send them by letter mail.

How to opt out of electronic TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications in EasyWeb:

  • Log in to EasyWeb
  • Go to your Profile & Settings and select TD Alerts and Notifications
  • Select the Manage tab where you can review your TD Alert notification settings and unselect both text and email message options for TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications


How to opt out of electronic TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications from text and email alerts:

  • You can opt out by text/email only after you receive an alert. Reply STOP to a text alert and select 'Opt out' at the bottom of an email alert
  • If you have replied STOP to a TD Credit Card Overlimit alert, we'll stop sending you text alerts to your mobile phone. For example, if you have two or more TD personal credit cards you will no longer receive additional text alerts for all your credit card products. This applies if you select 'Opt out' for email as well
  • Opting out applies only to the mobile number or email address where you received the alert. If you change your contact details with us in the future, we will start sending alerts to your new mobile number/email as they will not be on our 'opt out' list

At this time we only send TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications to Primary Cardholders who are Quebec residents.


You can change your mobile number and email address we have on file any time.

Changing your mobile number in EasyWeb or the TD app:

  • After you log in to EasyWeb: Select Profile & Settings from the left navigation, then My Profile and then Edit Phone to update your Mobile number
  • After you log in to the TD app: Select Settings from the main menu, select the View profile link to update your Mobile number


Changing your email address in EasyWeb or the TD app:

  • After you log in to EasyWeb: Select Profile & Settings from the left navigation, then My Profile and then Edit Email to update your Email address
  • After you log in to the TD app: Select Settings from the main menu, select the View profile link to update your Email address


If you provide both personal contacts, we will send alerts by text, email or both depending on your settings.


If we have been sending you TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications by letter mail because we don't have your Canadian mobile number or email address, you can add your contact information at any time, select your preference for electronic delivery and we will send the alerts electronically.

If we are not sending you electronic notifications because you opted out from receiving electronic alerts, please log in to EasyWeb and update your electronic delivery preference.


Yes, we may send a TD Threshold Alert and a TD Credit Card Overlimit Notification for the same transaction to Primary Cardholders who are Quebec residents. Refer to the TD Threshold Alerts tab for more information on this type of alert.


By using your own personal mobile number and/or email address, you help ensure that the TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications we send to you can only be accessed and seen by you.

If you would like to verify or update the contact information we have on file for you, you can do that any time in EasyWeb or the TD app.
